I lived in London, England, until I was 26 and then emigrated to Canada. I loved the British countryside but never spent the required time exploring different areas. Now I am going back to cycle from John O'Groats (the most northerly point in Scotland) to Land's End, (the most southerly point in England). It's about 1,000 miles (1,600 km) and I am attempting this with a friend from here and 2 English friends. We hope to finish the journey in 3 weeks.

All monies raised will go straight to help fund brain cancer research. As many of you know, Alison, the mother of my 3 children, died 23 years ago of a brain tumor when she was only 40.

We have all been touched by the loss of either family or friends due to cancer and there have been many great advancements in fighting this terrible disease over the past few decades. It is an ongoing fight and I hope to make a small difference.

On the fun side of this trip I hope to meet many different people, visit many different pubs and see as much beautiful countryside as possible.

Many thanks for your support.

Philip
