Orpheus was a loving husband, father, and brother. Slow to anger, quick to forgive, and always happy to crack a joke, he was among the humblest and most selfless of people. He was 69 years of age.
Born on September 17, 1946 in Bandra, Mumbai, India to Ignatius and Stella D'Souza. He is survived by wife of 36 years Bina and children Swithin, Gavin, Anselm and Caireen. Orpheus died on August 11, 2016 after a battle with cancer.
Trained as a watch and clockmaker by his father Ignatius, Orpheus built a career first in Toronto in 1976 and then in Vancouver in 1978.
He enjoyed gardening around the house, spending time with his family, and travel. Many a summer vacation was spent camping in and around BC with his young family.
Despite his cancer diagnosis, Orpheus never gave up hope that he would be able to overcome his illness. Unfortunately, this was not to be as the cancer was spreading so quickly that agressive treatment was needed. Sadly, the chemotherapy proved ineffective against his cancer, and he passed away August 11th, 2016.
A funeral mass is to take place at 2:00pm on Saturday August 20th, 2016. at St Matthews Parish at 16079 88th Avenue Surrey. A viewing at will precede the mass at 1:00pm.
In the spirit of what Orpheus wanted, please donate so that new cancer treatments can be found and lives saved.
Orpheus often said:
"I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
