APRIL 2011

APRIL IS CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Research breakthroughs continue at the
BC Cancer Agency

Last April, we shared Ten Reasons for Optimism in our Partners in Discovery blog, as part of cancer awareness month. Each year, thanks to your support, the research breakthroughs continue. This month, I would like to add another major discovery at the BC Cancer Agency to this Top Ten list.

Through the use of novel drug inhibitors, Agency scientists can now target a specific natural enzyme which halts the spread of breast cancer tumours. This discovery has potential life-saving qualities and could significantly reduce the deadly spread of this disease. You can read the full announcement here.

This latest discovery is one example of the many BC Cancer Agency advances and achievements happening year round. As our partner in discovery, thank you again for your generous support.

Sincerely,

Doug Nelson Signature
