Workout to Conquer CancerTM is a month-long fitness challenge benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. Move in May and raise funds for groundbreaking cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.
Workout to Conquer Cancer challenges you to move and exercise for the month of May and ask people to support you in raising funds for life-saving cancer research.
As a Workout participant you’ll have access to a wide range of drop-in fitness classes offered by our Workout Partners. You can schedule and sample classes including yoga, spin, Zumba and barre, and on days you can’t make a class, go for a run, bike ride or hike. The choice is yours!
By signing up for Workout to Conquer Cancer, you will not only improve your health and fitness, you will also show a meaningful commitment to support over 27,000 British Columbians who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
Why is Workout changing from a one day event to a month long challenge?
Workout 2017 is evolving to allow for growth, flexibility and the ability to add to our incredible roster of training partners, giving participants an enriched experience that can be done on their own time.
Where does my money go?
The funds you raise for Workout to Conquer Cancer will support research initiatives into all cancers, including breast, ovarian and lymphoid—to name a few—where researchers are making major advancements into the early diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Over the past five years a number of breakthrough discoveries have catapulted BC Cancer Agency scientists onto the world stage. These discoveries would not be possible without people like you.
When is Workout 2017 taking place?
Workout will take place during the whole month of May 2017, with a commitment to work out every day.
Workout every day?! I don’t know about that…
Don’t throw in the towel just yet! Working out every day does not mean 31 days of strenuous exercise. This challenge is to encourage you to move every day. You can hike, bike, box, swim, attend a fitness class the choice is yours. We’ve also created weekly fitness plans that you can download, modify and use as a guide during the month.

How much do I have to raise?
We suggest setting your fundraising goal at $300. In our experience, this is a very achievable target for a challenge that you are undertaking for a whole month. But you can decide to make this higher or lower depending on how much you’d like to raise!
Can I still build a team?
Absolutely! We actually encourage it. Working out with others builds motivation, accountability, and camaraderie! Fundraising and team building will be a big part of this month long fitness challenge.
NOTE: We encourage anyone interested to follow along online with our social channels via @workoutbc and updates will also be shared via email and updates coming soon to the Workout website.
