This August, I'm participating in the Virtual Glotman Simpson Cypress Challenge to raise awareness and funds in support of pancreatic cancer research and care at BC Cancer.
I'm riding for my cousin Jonathan who lost his battle to cancer far too early in life. I'm also riding for my Auntie Maggie, Auntie Anna, Auntie Jane and Auntie Lillian, who all survived their cancers. As a bioinformatician at the BC Cancer Research Centre, I know funds raised for pancreatic cancer will indirectly help the efforts of other cancers, because research is a collaborative effort and cancer is a complex disease, so *together* we can.
This year, 800 British Columbians are estimated to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 75% of these patients won’t survive the first year, and less than 10% will survive five years. We need to act now.
With your help, BC Cancer can continue its vital work to break down this deadly disease.
Please consider making a donation.
Warmest regards,
Stacy
