Dear Family and Friends,
Welcome to my fundraising page for the 10th Annual Glotman•Simpson Cypress Challenge. On Sunday, August 13, 2017 I will join cyclists of all ages and abilities as we ride up Cypress Mountain in support of pancreatic cancer research happening right here in B.C.
In 2016, the Glotman-Simpson Cycling Club and 675 cyclists including myself earned over $400,000 for the BC Cancer Pancreatic Research Fund, and since 2008, over $2.05 million has been raised!
Many of you know my history, but I will repeat it for those of you who are unfamiliar or as a friendly reminder. This is my one fund raising ride of the year and I can't think of a better cause to suffer up a mountain than the fight against cancer and in this case, pancreatic cancer. I have lost my father, my younger brother, my sister, my aunt/godmother/mother's twin sister to cancer, and my mother had cancer when she passed away. I've had friends who have fought their courageous battles and lost, friends who have triumphed, and friends who are currently fighting. I know that there are many demands for your hard earned money out there, and if you choose not to support me in my ride I will understand completely but please find another way to join in this fight. And for all you cyclists out there who are receiving this email, I do not expect or want you to sponsor me, I want you all to join me in this ride and create your own fund raising page to help to fight this terrible, terrible disease (however, if you have other commitments on this date please, of course, feel free to support me).
This is more than just a ride up a steep mountain; it is a journey towards a world free from cancer. All of the funds I raise support the BC Cancer Foundation's Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers, with over 400 people in B.C. expected to be diagnosed this year.
Your support will really make a difference.
