It is once again time for the Cypress Challenge. It really is a special race, and it's amazing to think that it started as a small seed after my Nana passed away. A long time has passed since my Nana left us and I miss her very much. Unfortunately since the race's inception in 2007, we find many others affected by the disease -- leaving many loved ones behind far too early.
This year my good friend's dad was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. He is a very fit individual in his early 60's with lots of charisma, a special zest for life and appreciation for family. When my friend shared the news, I was at a loss of words. I don't think there is much one can say in that situation.
What we can do is channel our empathy and energy towards raising money and supporting efforts that help cure this terrible disease. I will be thinking about Curt and his family, in addition to my Nana and all others affected, the entire climb up the hill. It is important not to take our health for granted. We should always remember how lucky we are to be alive and well. Please help support the climb and pancreatic cancer research at the link below, it is much appreciated!
