This February, I’ve committed to Lose the Booze and give up alcohol for the entire month.
This charity is very near and dear to my heart because on July 5th I was diagnosed with highly advanced metastatic testicular cancer. There was no warning, I had a cough that got worse and worse and eventually led to expelling blood. By the time it was found it had spread to my lymph nodes, lungs and brain. I had over 200 tumours in my lungs that were causing lesions that were slowly drowning me. I had 8 brain tumours and was weeks from death. Chemotherapy saved my life. I lost my right testicle and had a set back when my Cancer survived the chemo. I have now done radiation surgery on a 9th brain tumour and went in on Feb 7th to have my right lung dissected. I have two more major surgeries to look forward to on my lungs and lymph nodes over the coming months.
Thanks to the support given to the BC Cancer Foundation I am alive today. Thanks to the continued support I hope to live to see my children grow and to return to work to serve my country as an Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.
I would be lost if it weren't for the generosity of people and the support of the BC Cancer Foundation. Your money saves lives and helps ease the pain of people touched by this terrible disease.
Alcohol consumption is linked to increased risk of Cancer, especially in men.
Please, will you support me with a donation today? Your gift will directly support life-saving cancer research taking place at BC Cancer – and will play a huge role in keeping me motivated and hopeful that I will beat this disease.
Thank you so much for your support!
My Personal Web Log
Thanks to the outstanding support if all of you I have achieved my fifth fund raising goal of this campaign and am so thrilled to be leading the province in funds raised. I am well on my way through my recovery from the surgery on my right lung and this support has helped boost my mental health tremendously. If any one else would like to support this cause please donate to my fellow teammates, especially Sean Milley who is close to his goal and I want for us to cross that line together. I really believe we can reach the $10 000 goal that we have set for ourselves. Thank you again and thank you to the BC Cancer Foundation for giving us a way to give back. You saved my life.

Tomorrow morning I will be going back to the Royal Jubilee Hospital to have my right lung cut apart to remove some of the metastasis. Please feel free to push out to more friends to bring in more donations because they help boost me up. Wish me luck.

So the campaign is now actually underway and we are doing really well. It has been amazing to feel the love from people literally all over the country and to help raise some money for a worthy cause. One of the big things they are trying increase in BC is scanning capability. One of the scans that is sometimes used is called a PET scan. For me to have one I need to take a ferry to Vancouver because there isn't one on the island. Increasing CT and PET capability drastically helps save lives. Please give to help increase this capability and to ease the strain on people already fighting a terrible disease.

I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support that I have seen in the short time since I registered for this charity. Please continue to give as I attempt to raise my goal one last time to see if I can reach half of ONWARD's total goal. Thank you again, and check back for updates as I give details of my story to those who are interested.
