This January, I've committed to Lose the Booze and give up alcohol for the entire month.
It will definitely be a challenge, but I’m doing it for an important cause. While I’m swapping my wine and my pints for water, I’ll also be fundraising for the BC Cancer Foundation. One in two people in our province will face cancer in their lifetime, so this is a cause I’m willing to be parched for.
As you know, I am also facing cancer head on. I have been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma for the past 3 years and will be starting treatment for prostate cancer in mid January. Support for the BC Cancer Foundation helps individuals like myself as we deal with this disease. Funding also supports research & the development of new treatments. A worthy cause we should all support. You never know when a test might come back positive for cancer.
It’s going to be a long month, and I’m relying on the support of friends and family like you to see me all the way through January 31st.
Please, will you support me with a donation today? Your gift will directly support life-saving cancer research taking place at BC Cancer – and will play a huge role in keeping me motivated this month.
Thank you so much for your support!

Almost Done
With 5 days to go I am nearing the end of my "dry" January Lose the Booze challenge. Their have been moments when I would have loved a wee nip of something but have continued to be true to the cause. Yesterday was Robbie Burns Day and I have always celebrated with a wee dram. I hope Robbie won't mind if I celebrate his birthday in February!
A huge "Thank You" to my sponsor donors who have made this fundraiser worthwhile. The folks at the BC Cancer Foundation and the Victoria Cancer Clinic are wonderful and are making my cancer treatments special. The SABR treatment that I am on for my Prostate Cancer was developed with funds from fundraisers like this. There is no way I can thank those contributors enough.
Time to buckle down and keep this fundraiser on track for the next 5 days.

Halfway
Thank you all for your donations to my fund-raising effort for the BC Cancer Foundation. All funds raised will help to support cancer research and cancer patients here in BC.
I have now reached the halfway point in this campaign. There have been a number of times that I would have enjoyed a glass of wine at dinner or a beer after golf. Even celebrated a birdie or a sandy par with a shot of scotch. However, I have been true to the cause. I do have a special bottle of wine that I am saving to enjoy on February 1st or 2nd.
If any of my donors or those who have not yet donated would like to buy me a virtual drink that would also be appreciated.
A couple of beers is $10 and a bottle of wine is $35, If you really want to splurge you can open a tab at the bar for $100.
Once again, thank you all very much for your support.
