Mark Cheng Poker Tour
Mark Cheng passed away from cancer on May 5th 2006. He was 27 years old.
When he was first diagnosed, we would get together every week with his friends, cousins, and brother. Ostensibly, we were gathering to play poker, but, in truth, we were really there to enjoy each other’s company and to offer support for one another as Mark and his family dealt with his illness.
Although Mark ultimately lost his battle with cancer, his legacy endures to this day through the friends he left behind, through the light he brought to our lives, and through the nephew he never had a chance to know who now shares his name.
The Mark Cheng Poker Tour was started to raise money for the BC Cancer Foundation in Mark’s memory through a series of annual poker tournament fundraisers. Through our events – including the NICK GOLDSMITH MEMORIAL CLASSIC – we strive to follow the example Mark set for us all and to do our part in the fight against cancer.
Over a decade has passed since we lost Mark, but his impact on the world continues.
We remember. We honour. We celebrate. The remarkable life of Mark Cheng.
