On Sunday, June 16, 2019 I am participating in Seek the Peak and fundraising in benefit of the BC Cancer Foundation. Seek the Peak is a race that begins at Ambleside Park in North Vancouver and ends at the very peak of Grouse Mountain. It is a 13km race with a total elevation gain of 1400m. It is going be the most physically and mentally demanding challenge that I put myself through. However, I know that it is a fraction of what those who are affected by cancer have to endure.
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. It was trying times for my family to say the least. She worked her entire life as a single mother to support myself and my 7 siblings, but that year she found herself fighting for her own life. With the help of the money raised through the BC Cancer Foundation, my mother was able to seek the appropriate treatment and became a survivor.
Although this run does not even begin to compare to the fight that many cancer patients go through, I am dedicating this run for my mom and all the women who are affected by breast cancer. If feasible, please consider donating. Money raised stays right here, advancing research and enhancing care for the people in B.C. suffering from breast cancer. Every dollar counts.
