This May I’m participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients! I'm joining others across the province to move, no matter where we are, every single day of the month.
One in two British Columbians are affected by cancer. That's why I've committed to move and raise funds for patients, survivors and those we've lost. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about a community who believe we can make an impact, even from our homes. It's about a community who cares about discovering more through research, and cares about helping patients and survivors have more time to experience this wonderful messy thing called life.
So, as I get ready to sweat my way through May for every patient who cannot, please show your support by making a donation today.
Today was exciting because I went SWIMMING for the first time in over a year -- it was wonderful. The local swimming pool does allow swimming (by appointment) and length swimming only, and there are COVID protocols to follow like everywhere else - this was the first time I made the effort to figure it all out. I also managed to fit in a yoga class today, with my favourite yoga instructor :)

Another week of staying on track -- a 30 (or longer) min walk every day. (Even though 1 of those days meant a walk in steady rain while wearing rain boots, raincoat & hat.) And I fit in 2 yoga classes too. May 22 was a longer walk of almost an hour -- we walked through a newish trail through the marshes close to sunset, and the low sunlight lit up the leaves on the trees in an amazing way -- one of the trees looked lit up like a Christmas tree! I think because the leaves were green on top, but a more gold/brown on the bottom, and the gold was catching the sunset rays.

This week has flown by! I am happy to say that I am continuing to meet my goal of a 30min walk each day. And also attended four yoga classes. It actually has been harder than I expected to carve out the time for a walk EVERY day -- but I did it, and am now half way through this challenge. My favourite walk this week was at the local bird sanctuary where I saw four Canada goose families with fuzzy goslings, among many other birds.

Starting week 2, and have been able to stay on track with my goal so far: a minimum 30min walk every day, and minimum 3 yoga classes. Last week (May 1-7) I did go for a walk every day, including 2x 45min walks, and attended 4 yoga classes online with Open Space Yoga (with Mo, Michael & Sue). Tonight was a 30min walk after dinner -- a bit later tonight, just after sunset.

A 30-min walk today after work -- the weather was the same as yesterday. Sunny and windy.

Yoga with Sue after dinner, then went for a walk afterwards -- the rain had cleared, and it was sunny and windy, with a rainbow towards the east. We extended our walk to 48 min by circling through Ladner Harbour Park.

I went for a 30min walk after dinner today, and admired the dogwood trees that are now blooming gloriously! I also did some small shopping errands on foot for some extra activity.

Another sunset walk - the sunset was especially golden today - and a slow flow yoga class with Michael.

Yoga with Michael today, starting with Sun Salutations A & B, and Butterfly & Pigeon close to the end of the class. I did manage to go for a 30min walk (after making a birthday cake) starting at around sunset as dusk was beginning to settle down.

Slow Flow Yoga with Mo in the morning to stretch out sore muscles, and then an afternoon walk in the sunshine -- and all the bluebells are in bloom!

I am aiming to get out for a 30min walk every day this month, along with some yoga classes. Today was a 45min walk through Ladner, along River Road then through the Village. The tide was out, and was the lowest low tide I have ever seen in Ladner Harbour.
