It has been just over a year since I received my breast cancer diagnosis. I had surgery and then began my journey with BCCancer holding my hand providing chemotherapy, radiation, and now long term meds all without any financial cost to me. My chemotherapy was administered close to home by a BCCancer community clinic in Duncan and I then traveled to Victoria daily for three weeks to a BCCancer center to receive radiation. Through this journey, there has been so much to learn and many decisions to be made. The care, support, and expertise I have received have been amazing. BCCancer was always available to help me navigate through this maze. This May I’m participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients! I'm joining others across the province and beyond to move, no matter where we are, every single day of the month.
One in two British Columbians are impacted by cancer. That's why I've committed to move and raise funds for patients, survivors, and those we've lost. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about joining a community, who know that together we can make an impact for those we love and have loved.
So, as I get ready to move every day in May, my plan is to give back to BC Cancer by raising awareness and encouraging people to show their support by making a donation if possible, or maybe you want to be a participant and move every day in May!
Walked over 5km and upper body resistance training.
