Hello friends -
This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across BC as we 'get moving' every day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Unfortunately, I was one of those diagnosed with breast cancer this year. I’m doing well; my cancer was treatable. I’m still visiting the BCCA daily for radiation treatments that will continue into the month of May. But I'm definitely one of the lucky ones.
Working out has become an important part of my daily radiation treatment plan. I believe it is helping with my physical and emotional healing during this process. I am committed to continuing my daily workout routine throughout the month of May, even if I have to change it up or cut back a bit if I’m not feeling up to it.
I am motivated to participate in this initiative from my positive experience with the BCCA. I have received outstanding care from the highly professional and compassionate team of doctors, therapists and technicians at the BCCA. They are special people. I can't really imagine how my care could be improved, except if it didn't have to happen at all... Wouldn’t it be great if these people didn’t have to do what they do? If they could do something different because there was no cancer to treat? We aren’t there yet, but with your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work is providing exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
So, as I get into my workout gear and head to the gym everyday this May, please show your support by making a donation today.
