This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. I've committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work is providing exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
My cancer treatment concludes 30 April and by all accounts will be cancer free. Starting this challenge in May resets my commitment to a healthy lifestyle to prevent reoccurrence.
So, as I lace up my runners, fill up my water bottle and get ready to sweat my way through May, please show your support by making a donation today.
Thank you especially in these difficult times with Covid19!
Rich (aka Superman)
Last Day of Treatment
Today is my last treatment day! It's been a long haul but it's now coming to an end. Thanks to everyone that has supported the 'Workout to conquer Cancer" initiative.

After his father's passing from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 53, Rich Marriott vowed to lead a healthier lifestyle in hopes that he would never have to deal with a similar diagnosis. Sadly, in the summer of 2019 at the age of 51, Rich was diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer and underwent treatment at BC Cancer Victoria.
Along his cancer journey, Rich was given the nickname Superman, as reflection of his positive attitude and determination during treatment. Now, as he enters the final stretch of treatment, he has pledged to move every day to change the outcome for patients and families he has met along the way.
We congratulate Rich for already smashing his fundraising goal and thank him for sharing his story to motivate others to join May's challenge. #WorkoutBC #StrongerThanCancer
