Many of you may remember that I participated in the Workout to Conquer Cancer a couple of years ago, and with your help I raised over $1,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation. I wasn’t able to participate last year as I was tromping through Spain with my friend Sara, but I’m back on board and signed up for this year!
My biggest motivation for joining in this year is my niece Sheena, who has terminal colon cancer. Many of you know that I’ve been an aunt to my oldest niece Sheena since I was two and a half. Sheena is now just 41 years old. She was diagnosed with colorectal cancer a couple of years ago, and since then she’s had numerous rounds of chemo as well as major surgery to shrink and remove her primary cancer. Unfortunately her cancer has metastasized, and she is now terminal… She is receiving palliative care, but her body is very slowly, and very painfully, deteriorating.
The format of the challenge has changed this year. I'm going to Workout every day (Yes - Every. Single. Day!!) in May to improve the lives of all who are impacted by cancer in hopes that they will never experience the pain of a terminal diagnosis. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists of the BC Cancer Agency.
Make a donation to help my workouts pack a real punch! I’ll be posting pictures or videos post-workout every day on FB and Instagram so you can see your dollars magically transform into my sweat!
If you are unable to support me with funds but have time to share, join me for a paddle, hike, walk, taiji class, swim, yoga class or gym workout, your time would be invaluable!
