This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
We are all touched by cancer eventually whether it hits a family member, close friend, or yourself. I'm dedicating this month and challenge to my Sister-in-Law and her family as her family has been hit hard by cancer in this month. Here's the "Why I Workout". There's nothing I can do to ease here pain as she sits in the hospice every day this month watching her Mom deteriorate. So every day that I don't feel like doing a workout I think of them and I push through because how tired or sore I am is nothing compared to what they are going through. All I can do is hope that the funds that are raised by everyone this month will help contribute to finding ways to help early detection and better treatment of cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. I've committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work is providing exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.

Workout at the gym. 30 minutes rowing, 16 minutes working on my incline jogging on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the stepmill, then lower body weights.

Did a workout at the hotel gym; weights, stepmill, and bike. Ended the day with 91 minutes exercise and 16,465 steps.

Ended the day with 107 minutes of exercise and 14,534 steps. Gym workout in the morning and then a Nike hip and glute strengthing workout in the evening.

Kicked off the day with an early morning workout at the gym. Warmed up with the rowing machine then did upper body weight with mountain climbers mixed in.

For my workout I did a spin class at Ride again. Also did a big power walk at lunch and walked home. Ended with 17,763 steps and 112 minutes exercise.

Did a indoor bike class after work and walked on my lunch. Ended my day with 111 minutes of exercise and 11,312 steps. My body is getting slightly tired working out everyday but I'm hanging in there better than my Apple Watch. My watch can't last a whole day anymore with all this movement! I'm having to plug it in a couple of times a day.

Did an 8.8 km run on the seawall in the morning. Followed with weights at the gym. Ended up with 22,177 steps and 137 minutes of exercise.

Had a busy day taking care of some family things and visiting both my mother-in-law and my mom so other than the run I did not get to another workout until later at night when I did some yoga to try to keep balanced. Ended the day with 102 minutes exercise and 17,144 steps.

Due to a family emergency my day was turned somewhat upside down. I ended with 13,635 steps, 18 hours of stand, and 105 minutes of exercise but it was disjointed. I made sure to get movement in although I didn't get a big sweat in.

Did another indoor cycle class on day 10. The instructor started the class with This is America - Childish Gambino - and I know it would be a pumped up extra sweaty ride.

On top of my morning gym workout, I went for a 4.3 km walk at lunch, and did an ab workout in the evening followed by stretching and foam roller. Ended with 117 minutes exercise, 17 hours of stand, and 14,648 steps.

Boom. Nailed my workout before 8:30 am this morning and achieved an Arriba badge on my Nike Run app for getting out and doing a 8.6 km run.

Instead of a run or intense cardio I did a bunch of Nike workouts today. It involved a lot of squats and planks. There was one that made my booty burn so sometimes small workouts can be effective. I ended up with 86 minutes of exercise.

It's going to be tough to work one big workout in today so I plan on doing a bunch of mini workouts. Watched the Barre Fitness video posted by Workout to Conquer Cancer and did a quick Barre workout at my desk. I'll do more through out the day and then do some mini Nike workouts later today.

Did a energizing, sweaty indoor cycling class after work. It was fabulous. If I had more money and more time I would do a Ride everyday. Did a big stretch session after. Ended with 110 minutes of exercise and 13,051 steps.

I wish I could run every day but alas my aging body can't take it. I went for a 5 km walk today at lunch and have a indoor cycling class scheduled at Ride tonight.

Between a couple of walks to the bank, my lunch run, and general wandering around I ended with 17,277 steps yesterday. My watch died at 7:30 pm so I might have ended up with more but that's okay. I did a yoga workout from my Nike app after dinner to round out the running.

Beyond my gym workout in the morning, I also did a 4 km lunch hour walk, a core workout in the evening, and a good stretch. Ended the day with my Apple Watch recording 101 minutes of exercise, 19 hours of stand, and 16,218 steps.

Getting Geared Up
I'm getting ready to rock it in May! Monday's are normally my "rest days" so I tend not to do anything high impact to give my joints a rest. To get moving today I did a 5 km walk on lunch break. It's a good way to get clear headed while taking in the beautiful springs sights on the seawall.

Kick Start - April 29th
Ended my Sunday with 16,243 steps and 15 hours of stand time. Not bad for also squeezing in 1/2 a day of work and laundry.
