This is my 3rd year participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer, and also my 3rd year in remission. I'm looking for all of you to help me have this be the 3rd time I surpass my goal with Yana's Angels. The number 3 in repetition represents The Equilibrium - Mind, Body, and Spirit. This journey in remission has been a constant search to find balance in all three without neglecting one, and I've realized with May just around the corner, I find I'm the most balanced when I'm giving back - living my purpose. Because that purpose allows me to pay it forward and help other thrivers/warriors find their balance.
Every year I've participated has been special to me, and I've connected and reconnected with amazing people. I've met the most selfless people and truly lived in the community of "one for all, all for one". This year, in particular, is very meaningful to me, as I am personally dedicating my whole month to one special woman in my life who I always loved and admired. My Ninang Jo - breast cancer survivor and current cervical cancer warrior. She has worn courage and a smile through her whole journey - she has a way of lighting up a room just by walking in with her smile. After my surgery, she would come down to my room on her lunch break and check on me - and that feeling of family was all I needed at that time. ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE NINANG!
I'll be participating in a month-long fitness fundraising challenge that will have me lunging, squatting and downward dogging with hundreds of others across the province who have committed to make a serious impact in the effort to conquer cancer.
I'm going to Workout every day in May to improve the lives of all who are impacted by cancer. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work provides exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
