In May 2017, I'll be participating in a month-long fitness fundraising challenge along with hundreds of others across the province who have committed to make a serious impact in the effort to conquer cancer.
Being diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast cancer in March 2014, I know first hand the incredible care provided by the BC Cancer Agency. The oncologists, clinicians and scientists saved my life, and continue to support me three years later. I'm going to Workout every day in May to help improve the lives of those who continue to be impacted by cancer. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists of the BC Cancer Agency. Their work continues to provide new exciting evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
This week, I'm recovering from my 4th cancer related surgery in three years, so I will be exercising gently in May. The BC Cancer Agency enrolled me in a clinical trial which had me working out all through my treatments. That's when I learned that working out doesn't need to be painful or unenjoyable. I feel lucky that I get to get back to exercising, and that by exercising I may be able to help others. By doing something that makes me feel better mentally & physically, I get to help others - that's really a win win scenario. So, as I continue to heal, I'll walk, do gentle weights, yoga, dance and stretch throughout the month.
I hope that you will consider making a donation today - in honour of all those who have been diagnosed by this terrible disease.
Thank you for helping me make a difference!
