In May 2018, I'll be participating in a month-long fitness fundraising challenge that will have me lunging, squatting and downward dogging with hundreds of others across the province who have committed to make a serious impact in the effort to conquer cancer.
I'm going to Workout every day in May to improve the lives of all who are impacted by cancer. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work provides exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.

Day 20 - Hike
Today I started the day off with the squat challenge and then my friends and I hiked the Golden Ears Canyon Loop. It is a 12 km intermediate hike. The hike down to the falls was very pretty! A very successful day.

Day 19 - 4.5 km Walk
I walked from downtown to the hair salon and then back home carrying my backpack weighing around 10 pounds. Also did another day of the squat challenge.

Day 18 - Dance and Squats

Day 17 - Squats and Short Walk
The squats are getting harder. I could really feel it in my legs today. Only walked 2.5 kilometres today but it was a nice walk.

Day 13 - Squat Challenge
Today is the last day of phase two then I get two rest days for the squat challenge. My legs feel much stronger after 2 weeks. Half of the squat challenge complete!

Day 12 - Squat Challenge
Today was a very long work day for me so I am pretty sure I got quite a bit of a workout doing many side bends and arm lifts. But, as an actual workout, I did the squat challenge and I am glad to report that it feels like it is getting easier.... until the next time the reps increase...

Day 11 - 10km Walk and Dance Rehearsal
Today I decided to walk almost everywhere. In total I walked 10 kilometres between my home, work, dinner and the whitecaps game. I also had dance rehearsal for an hour and did the squat challenge. Overall, I think it was a very successful day.

Day 10 - Legs and Arms
Enjoyed the day with a short walk and then powered through phase 2 of the squat challenge. My legs feel like rubber but I guess that is a good thing. Also, did a few reps of tricep dips to strengthen my arms. Ended the night with a some hip and back stretches.

Day 9 - Squats
Today was the beginning of the second week of the Squat Challenge. This involved doing twice as many squats as last week. It was definitely a challenge but I made it through!

Day 8 - Yoga and Walk
Today was another beautiful day in Vancouver so I walked home from the office. I took a similar route so I walked around 4 kilometres. I also went to Oxygen Yoga's Hot Vinyassa class with Dante. I learned that I need to work on my balance.

Day 7 - 4km Walk
Since it was a beautiful day in Vancouver, I decided to walk home from work. I ended up walking about 4 kilometres (2.48 miles). I am also doing the squat challenge still but today is a rest day for that challenge.

Day 6 - Workout Class
Today was tough! This morning I did the Hot O2 Tone and Sculpt class at Oxygen Yoga as part of my one week unlimited trial pass. It was a great class. I received an amazing workout with Linsea. Later this evening, I did the squat challenge. My legs are on fire!

Since I had a long day at work, I was only able to squeeze in my squat challenge and a deep hip and back stretch when I got home. I really needed it after being on my feet all day!

Day 3 - Yoga
Yep... another yoga night. I have to make use of my one week trial pass at Oxygen Yoga. Tonight was a Deep Stretch with Linsea. She is an amazing yoga teacher. I learned a lot from her that in can bring to my yoga practice. I also competed another day of the Squat Challenge.

Day 2 - Yoga and Squats
I walked just under 2 km from my house to the yoga studio. I participated in Oxygen Yoga's Hot Deep Stretch & Relaxation evening class with my family. I enjoyed the infrared heat as it was hot but not uncomfortable. Taylor was a good instructor. When I got home I started Day 1 of a 30 day Squat Challenge. Day 2 was a success!

Day 1 - Yoga
I may have just gotten home late from a very busy (non-stop) day but I am sneaking in my workout right before bed. I am doing the Supreme Stretch 18 minute routine from Daily Burn. It may not be a big workout for my first day but I'll stick to baby steps.
