In May 2018, I'll be participating in a month-long fitness fundraising challenge that will have me lunging, squatting and deadlifting with hundreds of others across the province who have committed to make a serious impact in the effort to conquer cancer.
Considering I work out 5 days a week as is, I can manage to lose my rest days for a month if its for such an impactful cause as this one.
Working all day in a gym, you never realise how much we take our fitness and ability to excercise for granted.. These 31 days of May will be not only for those that cant. But also to remind those that can, that we can lose the privilege of fitness at any time possible. So i'm taking it upon myself to make the most of my healthy body and raise money for all those in need of a cure.
Last summer, I lost a great mentor in my rugby coach Cliff Latter, whom fought a long hard battle with cancer and lost. He was one of the most inspiring people for me being 15 and trying to find my place playing in the mens leauge, and really helped me understand I belonged and aided me in building a confidence which I keep with me to this day. Although he may no longer be here, there are still millions of people suffering and thats why I've decided to register for this.
To all my friends, family members, and whoever else this page may find.. I hope you understand the why behind the what and donate whatever possible to this cause.
Time to be the change we want to see in the world.
