This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
Cancer has had a significant impact on many of us. My family is no exception. My mom is battling her second instance of breast cancer, and my aunt her first. My grandmothers both succumbed to this awful disease. Several other family members have fought as well. I want to show them our support and love and contribute as a community to conquering cancer for all of us.
I've committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work is providing exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
So, as I lace up my runners, fill up my water bottle and get ready to sweat my way through May, please show your support by making a donation today.

It's been a busy May! Ali and I are proud to say we've kept up the moving and sweating through a busy work and travel schedule. We are going for a run almost daily in the evenings. On days we don't run we do some weightlifting at our apartment and plenty of squats, pushups, situps and lunges.
We traveled to Harrison hot springs last Wednesday and they has a well equipped gym there. So we took advantage of that and then soothed the muscles in their pools.
Besides formal workouts, I go for a half hour walk on my work breaks just to get moving more. We have more energy now and both sleeping a bit better. I got a cold around may 18 that held on for over a week but still managed to get moving. It's been a wonderful experience so far and there's only a few more days left of the challenge!
Thanks for all the support we have received. Each time we exercise we have our loved ones in mind whose lives have been affected by cancer. It pushes us harder and inspires us each day.

Jogged around the block after work. Today was a long day but I squeezed it in. Not my best run but didn't have much to give this time out.

Went for a nice run up Queen Elizabeth Park to the lookout at sunset. Did OK on the hills this time. Still noticing improvements in endurance. I do feel a bit stiff around the knees so going to incorporate stretches more moving forward.

I posted this on the 9th but it didnt save.
So we stayed at a hotel for Ali's tourist challenge this year. There was a very well equipped gym there and we did a variety of heavy weights. Swam in the pool as well.

Ali and I have been running every day and we are really starting to get into it. I'm already feeling my endurance building up and can run longer before feeling tired. Some more positives are better sleep (because after a full day of work and a commute PLUS workout I'm whipped), better moods and I'm even noticing a bit more mental clarity. We're also supplementing with some situps which I did tonight (may 8) and pushups. The gym I planned on joining was too expensive in the end and is also contract which I don't love. We're exploring other options. Tonight, a run up Queen Elizabeth lookout.

It's been such a nice day today in Vancouver! So we decided to go down to Stanley Park for a run along the sea wall. We managed to go for about 40 minutes at a good pace and I'm definitely feeling sore now! Going to take the rest of the day easy.
