This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. I've committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Today is May 24th and I finally did my run I've been trying to get motivated to do (I like and also hate running).
Between jobs I did a 20 minute walk/run (2 min running 1 minute walking) and 3.2 kms. After work I did 31 minute walk/run (3 min running, 1 min walking) and 4.8 kms. I also did 17 minute post-run yoga

Today after work I walked for 2.2 kms, which was 30 minutes.
After that I did my yoga class, which was an hour.
After yoga I went for a 3.5 km walk, which was 45 minutes.
After the walk I did a yoga workout for 30 minutes.

This evening I went for a 2 hour walk in the sunshine around a hilly golf course. Such a lovely night for a walk.

Today I assembled an outdoor storage bin, which I realize does not not count as a workout, but it felt like one when I was sweating from having to wrestle the thing to make it fit together!!
But the actual workout: This evening after work I did a 45 minute power yoga + cardio routine at home (well, after work I fell asleep for an hour, but THEN I did a 45 minute yoga + cardio routine).

Today I did not work out this morning as I had planned (the snooze button is too easy)
So I went for a lunch break walk which was 2.2 km and 28 minutes
I did after-work yoga for 60 minutes
I did after-yoga time at the gym and did 28 minutes of cardio

My lunch break walk was 2.2 km and 30 minutes

I have not logged my workouts in several days! Yikes!
Today is a day I use a Rest Pass. I have been mildly sick for about 4 days, and today I decided I shouldn't push it, and I should try to get better. Go away, cold!
I went for a lovely hike on this glorious, sunny day.
=approx 5km, 90 min
Then I biked
=8 km, 38 min
Today I went for a long walk to run an errand and biked to and from a few things
walking = 5.2 km, 64 min
biking = 6 km, 35 min
This morning I tried to go to an indoor cycling class, but it was full when I arrived! So I did 30 min on the cardio machines at the gym instead.
This morning I did a 30 minute workout/stretches, on my lunch break I walked for 30 minutes and after work I went for a short 20 minute walk to enjoy the sunshine again!

May the ninth
Today I was exhausted - so, I found it hard to figure out how to fit in workouts today. Although I did not wake up and workout as I have been trying to do, I thankfully had a coworker who wanted to walk with me at lunch, which made it easier to be motivated to do! We could fit in a half hour walk in between meetings. I also attended my hour-long yoga class in between work things this evening.
The rest of my week is full, full, full of work, tasks to finish that are work-related, appointments and choir rehearsals and performances...BUT my workout goals for the rest of the week (to accomplish by sunday) are:
Swim at least once, for at least a half hour
Attend a yoga or other fitness class I have not yet tried out
Go for a long walk or hike on the weekend

Before work, 2 rounds of Workout Suggestions (5-10 Walk Outs, 15 Squats, 30 Second Plank, 15 Back Extension with Scapular Retractions and 10 Lunges/side) and a Barre Workout totalling 26 minutes
Biking to and from work
=11.2 km, 49 min
Walking on my lunch break
=4.2 km, 48 min
I've been debating adding choir as a workout...it's not sweat-making, but it is two hours of sitting/standing/sitting/standing, wiggling a little to the beat, and controlled/focused breathing requiring core stability and balance. It's perhaps similar to a mindful yoga practice. So, I will include it :)
=2 hrs of breathing, wiggling and sitting/standing/sitting/standing!

Today was a hot, sunny day, so walking was in order!
I biked 6kms and walked 14.4 kms in total doing all my errands.

Today was another bike-instead-of-drive day. I fit in a swim before work as well! Being back in the pool is amazing. It's hard to get there sometimes, especially when I'd rather sleep in a bit, but as soon as I get in the water, I think I could stay there all day!
Total biking: 23 kms
Swim: 25 minutes (it's hard to remember to count lengths!)
And a 20 minute walk

My goals for this week included getting up between 5:45 and 6:00 to have time to do some kind of workout every morning, getting back in the pool at least once, actually taking lunch breaks and going for walks with coworkers, and biking to work on Friday and Saturday. This morning, after two 12 hour work days, I hit snooze about 7 times, and did not do a morning workout. But that's ok, I decided, because I instead made a day of biking to every place I would normally have driven to, including work. In total I biked for 70 minutes and 19.5 kms. And I walked for 25 minutes and 2.2 kms while I talked to my mom on the phone :)
Tomorrow, the plan is to bike to work again, and stop in for a swim on the way!

Today was a 12 hour work day, so all I could fit in was a 30 minute swim before work. I counted lengths this time and I discovered I swam a kilometer...Not bad for being out of the pool for months and months and months!
