This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
As many of you know Cancer has impacted my life in ways I never could have imagined over the past couple of years. Just under 2 years ago we received the gut wrenching and life altering news that Kris (my husband) was battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer and thanks to God and the phenomenal team at the BC Cancer Agency, the end of April has marked one year in remission for him!!! I am grateful for EVERY SINGLE DAY of this past year!
Up until we received the news that Kris was sick, Cancer was simply something that happened to other people. I am sure this is the mindset for many, but in reality 1 in 2 British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Think about that for a minute. Those individual are peoples children, spouses, friends, and family. They could easily be your children, spouses, friends, or family members. That is TERRIFYING.
During the month of May I am committing to working out EVERY DAY (and I will be encouraging my little ones to get moving too!!) in support of cancer research and enhancement to care at BC Cancer. The research that has been done thanks to the BC Cancer Foundation undoubtedly saved Kris’ life. The team of doctors that supported Kris’ care receive funding from this foundation.
If you are willing/able please, PLEASE consider donating so that more lives can be saved. If you cannot give financially, please consider spreading the words to your friends/family!
