This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. I've committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province. With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Almost at the finish line! Went for a 30-min quick cardio workout on the elliptical for a "rest" day from weight lifting and resistance training.

Sunday of Orangetheory! I'm starting to love that class.
90-sec rowing machine to warm up
14.5 min of weights, ab and floor exercises
4 min push + all-out row
25 min on the treadmill - interval training alternating incline and speed + all-out bursts where you do both
Finished the class on the floor, with a nice stretch (also, because I could barely stand... but I walked back home).

Personal training session: leg day + boxing!
Weighted squats, deadlifts, and step-ups; one-legged squats (up and down!); lots of other stuff my brain probably blocked for my own sanity... We finished the session with a round of boxing. After a 2-year hiatus to heal a sub-luxated thumb, it was great to be able to do that again!!

I had to take it slow and go see my physio... I still walk to most places so I stayed active. The good news? She cleared me to start boxing/kickboxing again!

My new favourite Sunday workout: Orangetheory.
For this particular class I did:
- 13-min interval training on the treadmill
- 13-min weights and floor exercises
- Rowed 1,700 metres in 400m intervals alternating with jumping jacks holding a 8lbs medicine ball
- Some well-earned stretching

Sunday! Had a late start on the day but did not shy away from a full workout: I had my first ever 60-min Orangetheory class focusing on endurance, strength and power. I was beat afterwards but very satisfied with having done it. I will definitely do it again.

Had a wellness day so started out with a massage and then just went for a 1-hour walk around downtown to enjoy the sunshine and run some errands.

Walked to the gym early in the morning and did 30 min on the elliptical, then some kinesis exercises. I was in the office by 9:30 am... Not a bad way to start the Friday!

Had a 1-hour personal training session at the gym where I focused on mostly upper body but also had my fair share of lunges, deadlifts and squats (including some one-legged squats!).

In the morning I walked 30 min to catch my train at Yaletown instead of taking the bus. After work, I went downtown for an errand and walked 30 min to the gym, did 30 min on the elliptical and then walked home.

Had a 3-minute stretch with the team at the office at 11 am, good for getting the blood flowing. After work I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30-min arm session on the kinesis station at the gym.

Saturday morning I walked around Gastown as part of a wellness day with a dear friend. In the evening I walked 40 minutes to the movie theatre to see Avengers: Endgame and walked back home afterwards.
