This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer where funds raised benefit the BC Cancer Foundation. Please keep reading below for my story behind the reason I am compelled to partner with this cause. I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
One in two British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. I'm committed to break a sweat and fundraise to improve the outcome for people facing this disease across the province.
I chose to be involved in The Workout to Conquer Cancer because it marries 3 things that are important to me - helping others, cancer awareness, and fitness. My mother was diagnosed with cancer when I was 12 years old and again 15 years later. Though 2 different types of cancer, the feelings the second time were every bit as real and scary as the first. My mother was fortunate and strong enough to beat both and I am so blessed to report she is happy and healthy today. She prioritizes her health where she regularly works out with a personal trainer every week. I am constantly in awe of those affected by cancer - they are all warriors - and I will continue to tell anyone who will listen just how amazing and strong they are.
So, as I get ready to sweat my way through May with my SWOLMATES teammates, please show your support by making a donation today -anything helps!
