This May I’ll be participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel, where I’ll be joining hundreds of others across the province as we get moving every single day of the month in support of cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer.
At 22, I am living with stage 4 metastatic melanoma. I was diagnosed just over a year ago and have been doing my best to live in spite of cancer, and in spite of the uncertainty cancer brings into my life. Living with an advanced cancer diagnosis is never easy, especially being so young. After being sent to BC Cancer and receiving services there since 2017, I've had nothing but amazing nurses and staff there to support me when things have been extremely hard to handle. From counseling services, to art therapy to some of the best doctor's in the country, I am eternally grateful for what BC Cancer has done for me and my family. I am so excited to be able to participate and give back to BC Cancer during the month of May! With your support, we will make a significant contribution to the world-class research conducted by the clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer. Their work is providing exciting new evidence that is changing the way cancer is prevented, detected and treated.
I always try to emphasize to people that you aren't a cancer patient until one day you are. So, as I lace up my runners, fill up my water bottle and get ready to sweat my way through May, please show your support by making a donation today.
Lots of Love,
