Abbotsford Heat players put their hair on the line-for a great cause

There are few that can say they have never been touched by cancer. In the Abbotsford Heat family, there are many that have watched brave relatives and dear friends fight a near impossible battle.

Abbotsford Heat goalie Leland Irving battled cancer at the young age of 7. His mother discovered a lump above his ear and after a biopsy, they discovered it was cancerous. He was diagnosed with an often terminal cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. After removing the tumor, he endured 13 months of chemotherapy and has now been cancer free for 13 years. With such a personal experience, it is no wonder that Leland feels so strongly about this cause.

“This disease touches everyone and I want to be able to do whatever I can to give back to organizations that assist children and families like they did when I went through this,” explains Irving.
