I'm running the Great Lake Walk & Ultra Marathon in honor of my friend Clive Smith

Dear Friends,

I will be running the Great Lake Walk and Ultra Marathon (my very first Ultra Marathon, 56 km - which in essence is my first marathon) on September 17, 2011 in support of my friend and colleague, Clive Smith, to raise money for Cancer Research.

I recently found out that Clive had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer and was overwhelmed by a feeling of helplessness. Since I’ve met Clive, I’ve been touched by his caring and positive nature and was devastated to hear of his diagnosis. He’s a young man of 39 with a family and a full life ahead of him and I was struck by the unprejudiced way in which this disease attacks. I wanted desperately to do something to help take away some of the distress and anguish that he and his family were going through and decided that being able to run for Clive while raising money for Cancer research would be my way of doing something to help in this helpless situation.
