It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Ted Marble on August 28, 2016. He was a loving and devoted husband to Sharon. They were married for 47 years and were best friends. Together, they travelled the world, enjoyed good food and wine, and loved spending time with family and friends. Ted was an amazing father to his kids, Leah (Victor) and Trevor (Susy). He was always the first person they called when they needed a helping hand. He spent countless hours at both kids’ homes, renovating, painting and plumbing. For the past nine years, Ted was also an amazing grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Chase, Cole, Parker, Elle and Devin. He was goofy and totally inappropriate at times, in front of them, and they loved it!
Ted had many hobbies. He loved woodworking, building train sets, guitars, rock and roll, and classic cars. He spent over 20 years rebuilding a 1927 Willys Knight hot rod. The car was his pride and joy. He spent every weekend tinkering on that car and he finally had it finished just before his 70th birthday.
While on holiday in Tahiti, Ted began feeling sick. In March of 2016, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The cancer had also spread to his bones and he suffered great pain in his shoulder for many months. His family rallied around him and they were optimistic that they would be able to enjoy another family vacation together. The terrible disease took over his body much faster than they thought. He spent the summer months in and out of the hospital and in terrible pain. He was such a hero to his family. The symptoms that he suffered from the cancer were terrible and he never complained about a thing. He spent his last six months of his life being poked and prodded by doctors and nurses and he treated them all with kindness and respect. He was a true hero.
The family takes great comfort in the fact that Ted’s suffering is over. Cancer is a terrible disease and is a horrible way to die.
Lung cancer has a very high mortality rate because early detection is difficult. Often by the time it is diagnosed, the cancer is in a later stage or has metastasized. Ted’s family wants to raise funds for the research of early detection of lung cancer. Hopefully one day, there will be a test to detect lung cancer at an early stage.
The Marble family thanks you kindly for your generous donation.
