Air Quality Advisory
Forecasters are expecting an end to the hazy conditions, and an improvement to air quality by this weekend. If you have a chronic underlying medical condition, please postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
Parking, road closures, and start times
Parking at the base of Cypress Mountain is limited, as such we recommend that you ride to the start location. If you drive, here are some parking options from the event:
Mulgrave School: Rider drop-off and limited parking is available at the Mulgrave School parkade (2330 Cypress Bowl Lane).
1st Lookout: There is lots of parking across the street from the 1st Lookout, and this is a short 5km ride down Cypress Bowl Road to registration.
2nd Lookout: Drive just a bit farther up Cypress Bowl Road to the 2nd Lookout to park.
Hollyburn Nordic Area: Park just past the finish line at the Hollyburn Nordic Area and warm-up for the ride with a 12km downhill coast.
The highway entrance to Cypress Bowl Road will be closed from 8:40 – 9:10 am to allow riders time to set off and clear the start area. If you have friends or family driving up the mountain, please encourage them to leave plenty of time to make the road closure.
The ride begins on Cypress Bowl Road, Gate 6, shortly after the turnoff for Mulgrave School. Start time for 5km participants is 8:45 am. Please note the new course for 5km participants, now starting at the Second Lookout and ending at the main finish line in the Hollyburn Nordic Area. Start time for Full Course participants is 9 am. The start will be a self-seeded neutral roll-out. Please seed appropriately for the safety of all riders in either of the following categories: under 45 minutes, 45-60 minutes, over 60 minutes.
Rules of the road
While you pedal to your personal best time, remember this is not a race, and keep these few items in mind to ensure everyone has a great day.
The ride begins with a neutral start, so please stay behind the lead vehicle until the two lanes become available.
A strict yellow line rule will be in effect at all times. If a person crosses the yellow line, they will be automatically disqualified, and will not have their name or time posted.
Riders have only one lane available and must keep to the right at all times. Full course riders may catch some 5km participants, please be courteous and provide these riders space when passing.
After the ride
Celebrate your success at the finish line! We'll be giving out lots of prizes, listening to tunes, and snacking on lots of goodies thanks to The Taco Shack, Buntain Insurance, Windset Farms, Hardbite Chips, SPUD.ca, and more of our supporting sponsors. Be sure to make your final auction bids on the great items available. Awards and presentations will start at approximately 10:30 am. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to a great day on Sunday!
