Paralympian Ready to Tackle Cypress Mountain in Memory of Father
Donovan Tildesley remembers the day he learned his dad, Hugh, had been diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
“We all knew the prognosis was ultimately fatal it was just a question of how much longer he had to live,” he said.
Always a huge supporter of his son, Hugh had coached Donovan to four Paralympic Games and five medals in the sport of swimming. Donovan, who is blind, will be participating in the Glotman Simpson Cypress Challenge on August 14 in memory of his father.
He’ll be taking on the 12km trek up Cypress Mountain on a tandem bicycle, and has set a personal goal to raise $10,000 for the event, which supports pancreatic cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency. You can help Donovan reach his goal - visit his team's fundraising page.
