Together, we will raise $1 million to create a new Chemotherapy Suite at BC Cancer Surrey to enhance access to life-saving cancer treatment in the Fraser Region.
Several community leaders and regional ambassadors have come together to achieve this goal: Manjit Lit - Litco Investments Corporation, who is matching donations up to $100,000, Prof. Avtar Virdi - two time cancer survivor, Jay Minhas - President of Elegant Development, Inderjit Bains - Divine Film Studios, and Ruby Aulakh.
THE NEED
Over 10,000 residents of the Fraser Region will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By 2027, it is estimated that one in three cancer diagnoses in British Columbia will come from the Fraser Health region. Many of these patients will require chemotherapy, as it is a fundamental protocol in treatment plans.
BC Cancer - Surrey currently has 33 chemotherapy chairs available. With this current capacity, only 62% of patients can begin chemotherapy within two weeks of being deemed “ready for treatment”.
By adding 6-10 more chemotherapy chairs, 90% of patients will be able to begin treatment within 2 weeks of being deemed ready.
