Susie Zacks passed away early in the morning on October 10, 2015, the 29th anniversary of the passing of her mother, Belle.

Susie lived for three years after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. During that time she never let the disease control her life. Despite the pain and other symptoms, Susie carried herself with grace and courage never letting on that she was sick until close to her death. In this she was assisted by her family doctor Monty Glanzberg and doctors Nevin Murray, Hannah Carolan and Lori Saretsky at the BC Cancer Agency, the many nurses on the sixth floor at the Agency and and from Vancouver Coastal Health and the home care people from Bayshore, all of whom took care of her. Her many, many friends made sure that Susie was always busy walking, eating and playing bridge. Her doctors, friends and her children, grandchildren and sisters did everything to keep Susie's life as comfortable as possible.

Susie was an extraordinary teacher in Burnaby for almost 40 years. She was an even more extraordinary friend to many, many people. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will forever be in the memory of all of those who knew her.
