Wow! 20 days in to Lose the Booze! It's actually much easier than I though it would be. I have replaced wine and other alcoholic drinks with water, soda water (we got a soda stream for Christmas!) and tea. For the first few days, I had incredible sugar cravings, which I suppose is because cutting out the alcohol also cut out a great deal of sugar. Everything now seems normal. In fact, I haven't even been thinking about alcohol at all. I am feeling great, less tired in the mornings, and I have definitely dropped a few pounds.
People have been asking me what my plan is for February. "What happens on February 1st?" I have been asked. When there is an occasion, I will have a drink, and it will be an occasional social time, not daily. I also don't want to tell myself "I will only drink on the week-ends", because that almost feels like a commitment to drink on those days. Maybe I won't want to?
I'm so happy with the fundraising, and everytime I received a donation, I smile. Life is good!
