THE TECH BELIEVES TEAM

Tech Believes is a partnership between the Foundation’s Beyond Belief Campaign Cabinet, Cabinet Member Kristine Steuart, and a growing number of participating individuals and organizations from the B.C. Tech Community.

It’s a team driven to go beyond belief, and beyond barriers, for every single British Columbian.

B.C. Tech has a history of powerful innovation. Now, we’re going to do it again and help build a world free from cancer.

About Kristine Steuart

As co-founder and CEO of Allocadia, Kristine Steuart led the company from small start-up to global organization with a vast customer base. Kristine and her twin sister, co-founder Katherine Berry, shepherded Allocadia to one of largest exits ever by a female-only founded company in Canada. She was named one of the “Top 10 Women in Tech to Watch” by inc. magazine, and one of B.C.’s top 35 most influential women in business.

CONNECTING TO THE CAUSE: IN HER OWN WORDS

A close friend who works as an oncologist at BC Cancer asked if I would partner with the BC Cancer Foundation to help raise awareness within the tech community.

The very next morning, I received a phone call from my dad. My aunt, only 60 years young and newly retired, had recently been diagnosed with cancer. She passed away unexpectedly that night.

It was a sad and timely reminder that so many people are facing this devastating disease every single day. I decided to get involved with the BC Cancer Foundation in honour of her, and the other people in my life who have faced, or will face, the disease.

This endeavor is new to me—but if there is one thing I have learned as an entrepreneur in the tech world, it’s that you never know what can happen when you try something new.

Thank you to my tech community friends who have agreed to be a part of the story and who are coming together in the small ways that collectively make a large impact.
