HARDIAL KAUR GILL MEMORIAL FUND

Dear Family and Friends,
Hardial Kaur Gill … our beloved Mom whose charismatic smile captured the hearts of all that knew her. Our Mom’s positive aura filled even the darkest room with such warmth and love. She was hard working, strong, selfless, and the most generous person you would ever have the pleasure of meeting. To many of us she was a teacher, friend, mentor, a loving mother, and the greatest grandmother a child could ever hope for.
Our Mom was an active, healthy person who kept herself very busy around the house. But on March 19th, 2011, she was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer on March 19th, 2011 which left our whole family in tatters. Despite aggressive chemotherapy treatments, we were only given nine months to care for her, something she had spent a life time doing for others. Our Mom showed us her immeasurable heart and strength, fighting until the very end. Remaining strong for her friends and family, she did not shed any tears nor show any weakness throughout her battle. She did this by keeping undying faith in God just as she had done all her life. Unfortunately, on November 26, 2011, our Mom ascended to the Heavens surrounded by her family ever so peacefully.
Because of her loving nature and charming personality, Mom had inadvertently become the anchor of each one of our lives. When she had passed on, many of us felt as if that anchor had been cut, and that we were drifting aimlessly, overcome by our thoughts and sadness. However, her teachings and memory set us back on course. She has always been our guiding light and we know Mom would have wanted us to refocus our energy on finding ways to help others.
One of the things that Mom believed firmly in was the need to give back to the community that we live in. We want to honor Mom’s essence and for this reason we are asking all our friends and family to contribute to the BC Cancer Foundation.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude towards Dr. Johal, Dr. Minhas, Dr. Alexandius and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit in Surrey for the care that they provided to our Mom. Furthermore, we want to thank them for their sincere compassion and understanding with which they helped each one of us through this extremely difficult time.
“Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” -Anthony Robbins
