My dad battled cancer twice. He was a huge advocate for early detection and cancer research, having spent 11 years after his first cancer diagnosis working with the Candian Cancer Society raising awareness about Prostate Cancer and supporting men and families affected by Prostate Cancer.
Following my routine mammogram last August, I was faced with hearing those dreaded words - you have cancer. Cancer doesn't just affect you. It affects those who love and support you too. Following surgery in September and 8 chemotherapy treatments, I am now in the next phase of my treatment. I started radiation last week which will take me to early May. I am so grateful for the care I have received throughout my treatment and for all the love and support of my family, friends and colleagues. One step at a time toward beating this! I am staying positive and working hard to remain strong!
This May Tim and I are participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients! We are joining others across the province and beyond to move, no matter where we are, every single day of the month.
One in two British Columbians are impacted by cancer. That's why we've committed to move and raise funds for patients, survivors and those we've lost. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about joining a community who know that together we can make an impact for those we love and have loved. We are doing this together!
So, as we get ready to sweat our way through May, please show your support by making a donation today.
Thank you!
