This May my family and I are participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients! While I personally am a grateful cancer survivor who has benefitted from an amazing amount of money that has been invested in cancer research, my participation is even more personal. Specifically, my 15 year old nephew, Myles Lindsay, has been undergoing an epic battle with diffuse infiltrating gastric cancer for the past year. In addition to a year of challenging chemotherapy, radiation and surgical procedures, this month he will be receiving a partial to full gastrectomy in an effort to bring him some relief and allow more nutrients to get into his body.
I am so proud of Myles for the strength, grace and good humour that he has used to face this challenge. That's why I've committed to move and raise funds for patients, survivors and those we've lost. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about joining a community who know that together we can make an impact for those we love and have loved.
My exercise in May has included regularly running the stairs at UBC, I have begun jogging again, have walked our dog, Hope, more than I care to admit and have been golfing twice a week (I know, what a challenge!!). At the end of May, I am going to cap off my month by hiking The Lions (something I have always wanted to do but have never undertaken) alongside my daughter! So, as I continue to sweat my way through May, please show your support by making a donation today.
Thank you!
