3rd Annual Miles for Markus!
7 days. 7 marathons.
Hi, my name is Noah Allison — a 28-year-old Indigenous Ultra-Runner from Prince Rupert, BC. My traditional Tsimshian name, Si liigm lax süülda, means “Keeper of the Seas,” and for the past 8 years, I’ve worked for the Canadian Coast Guard.
Unfortunately, my story is an all too common one. I lost my father, Markus, to bladder cancer in September of 2023. His strength through a life-changing diagnosis — including a leg amputation — and his resilience during COVID restrictions inspired everyone around him. He even recorded an anthem of strength called “One Good Leg.” (available everywhere you listen to music!)
Running became my outlet during his battle as well as my therapy — a space where I could breathe, hope, and stay connected to the light in dark times. In 2023, I launched the 144kms for Markus run from Prince Rupert to Terrace. We raised over $6,000 and showed my dad the impact his resilience had sparked.
One month later, he bravely chose MAID (medical assistance in dying), and I vowed to continue fundraising in his honour. Now, in 2025, I'm taking it even further — rebranding to the "Miles for Markus" and running 300kms in 7 days, from Prince Rupert to Terrace AND BACK.
All funds raised go to the BC Cancer Foundation’s Patient Relief Fund which directly benefits families like mine. This fund helps patients and families cover costs like travel, food, and medical essentials (and much more) — because fighting cancer is hard enough without financial stress.
Cancer has touched nearly all of us. But together, we can ease the journey. Please donate, share, or join the movement.
