In Loving Memory of Shelley Deglan
Shelley grew up in Langley, B.C. and spent her working years in the Lower Mainland. She spent 23 years in management at London Drugs and “retired” early from there to follow her passions. She created her own garden maintenance business and was truly happiest with her hands in the dirt. Shelley was also very creative and made beautiful beaded objects, most notably her bead-woven jewelry which she was proud to have featured in 4 galleries.
Shelley was full of energy and seldom stood still. In addition to beading and gardening she loved walking, cycling, hiking and travelling the world. In 2015 Shelley and her partner moved to beautiful Victoria, B.C. Shelley loved the island life and the glorious ocean views from their condo. Shelley was an extremely hard worker and knew her own mind.
After beating cancer once in 2015, Shelley was again stricken by this terrible disease. In September 2018 Shelley was given only “months to live’. Shelley’s AMAZING courage and determination helped her withgo a lot of treatment and extend her life. In the short time at the end where her health declined Shelley took control and authorized MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) and died peacefully on her own terms. Heartbroken and always missing her is her partner of 38 years, Diane Scott.
It was Shelley’s request that there be no service. She “celebrated life” by living it and died with dignity. She is at peace. In lieu of cards or flowers please consider a donation to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
