Bill was born on January 20, 1932. He grew up in Toisan, Guangdong, China and then spent 11 years in Cuba before returning to Hong Kong, where he married his wife Annie. There they had two children, William and Aremis, before embarking on a journey to Canada. With few possessions but many aspirations, they set out to begin a new life in pursuit of better opportunities for themselves but especially, for their kids.

To save money, he and Annie started out living in basement suites. And to earn money, they worked tirelessly, he in the restaurant industry and she in the garment industry, before eventually starting their own grocery business. Through their efforts, they saved up enough to build a new house in Fraserview that would become their home for the next 4 decades.

After retiring, they were able to travel the world, as well as enjoy gardening, and growing fresh vegetables in their backyard. Most importantly to him, they had a hand in raising 4 grandchildren. They watched their grandchildren grow and mature – from riding around the driveway on tricycles to graduating from university and starting successful careers.

His kindness, warmth, and outgoing personality touched everyone from his family, colleagues, and the many friends he made during his lifetime.
