On Saturday, September 28th, Northwest Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Maple Ridge hosts Roll for a Reason - a grapplethon - to raise awareness and funds in support of childhood cancer research and care at BC Cancer.
What is a grapplethon?
Our grapplethon is an eight hour event where participants can get together to roll, drill and share techniques. Throughout the day, we will host 3-4 seminars run by some of the leaders in our industry. We will provide lunch and snacks and giveaways throughout the day.
Why Give?
Integrated with the new Surrey Hospital, the BC Cancer New Surrey Centre will complement the services provided at the hospital and significantly increase BC Cancer’s capacity in the Fraser Region. The New Surrey Centre will join six BC Cancer centres across the province that offer world-class cancer care to B.C. communities.
It will be a provincial hub of cancer innovation, attracting bright talent. Scientists will advance collaboration with colleagues across the province and build on research breakthroughs happening at the BC Cancer Research Institute in Vancouver with a direct benefit for patients in the clinic.
How can I get involved?
Participants are encouraged to fundraise in order to earn free entry. By doing so, you can earn event perks, and be entered into a raffle to win items donated by our sponsors. If you prefer to just pay an entry fee, you can pay $50 cash at the door.
Is this just limited to my gym/school?
All grapplers from all schools are welcome - NoGi and Gi, kids and adults. Everyone is welcome.
