Remembering Kim
April 2, 2026 marks five years since Kim Keulen passed away from cancer.
Kim was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was first diagnosed with cancer in May 2016, when doctors discovered she had Stage 4 colon cancer. Over the next five years, she faced multiple rounds of chemotherapy, invasive surgeries, periods of remission, and recurrence.
Throughout her journey, PET/CT scans played a pivotal role, each one helping determine whether the cancer had spread and what the next steps in treatment should be.
In the summer of 2020, when the cancer returned again, Kim accepted – with grace and peace – that her life on this earth was coming to an end. She declined further treatment and focused on what mattered most: her faith and family.
In honour of Kim, and in keeping with her values of people, practicality, and generosity, we are hosting this fundraiser to help bring the first PET/CT scanners to the Fraser region at the new BC Cancer centre in Surrey.
Our hope is that Kim’s memory will not only live on in the lives of those who loved her, but that her legacy will help bring more timely, efficient cancer diagnosis and care to the region where she lived her life.
