TECH BELIEVES Fundraiser
TECH BELIEVES
TECH BELIEVES unites B.C.’s tech community in a philanthropic effort to propel technological and research innovation in cancer care. It’s part of the Foundation’s Beyond Belief campaign, the most ambitious and comprehensive health fundraiser in the history of the province.
Launched in collaboration between the Foundation and Kristine Steuart, a former Founder and CEO in B.C’s tech community, TECH BELIEVES is helping to build a world free from cancer.
WHY NOW?
Innovation and advancement has never been more crucial in cancer care.
Over the next decade, cancer cases are projected to rise by 35% in B.C. and an aging and growing population will increase the demand for services by a projected 60%.
With more possible than ever before in cancer research and care, this is our opportunity to do what the tech community has always done: solve big issues, and accelerate us toward a world that benefits everyone.
As the demand for cancer services in B.C. grows, we can meet that demand with the same passion for innovation that has made B.C. tech one of the fastest growing hubs for life-sciences advancement in the world.
The BC Cancer Foundation has identified a first, vital step forward for Tech Believes: coming together to invest in a new Cyclotron that will unlock new treatment and research capacity right in our back yard.
HOW THE TECH COMMUNITY CAN HELP
This February, we are galvanizing the BC Tech community to contribute, connect, and activate their networks as we raise $1M toward the purchase of a new cyclotron.
Most of BC’s 11,000 technology companies are smaller, but the more of us who come together, the bigger our collective impact. If just 5% of these companies contribute $1,500, and 5% of individuals the tech sector donate $50, we’d be on track to raise $1.5 million.
We invite you to join us, activate your networks, and spread the word.
We’d be thrilled to work with a few corporate partners who can help propel us towards our goal. Though our minimum target is $1M, we’d be ecstatic if we did more.
