Rules, Weight Classes and Scoring System

Rules

cancer TAPS OUT! is a one-day, round-robin style, submission-grappling event. What this means is that for every weight class at every level, each participant will compete against each other. The top two participants with the most points in each category will qualify to compete in the evening finale.

3 Levels:

Level 1: Beginner, under 1 year of experience.
This bout will be a 1 x 5 minute round (for qualifying)

Level 2: Intermediate, between 1 and 3 years of experience
These bouts will be 2 x 5 minute rounds (for qualifying)

Level 3: Advanced, 3 and more years of experience
These bouts will be 2 x 5 minute rounds (for qualifying)

Evening finals will be:

2 x 5 minute rounds for beginners
3 X 5 minute rounds for intermediate and advanced

IBJJF No Gi Weight Classes (weigh ins day of event)

Point System

Each referee will be instructed to encourage participants to advance to a submission position. If no submission is obtained, only 1 point is awarded to each participant for a draw. The top two participants at the end of qualifying with the most accumulated points will advance to the evening Grand Final.

3 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss

Fundraising prizes

Not only can you win an individual fundraising prize, but your entire team can take home prizes as well. There are prizes for:

1. The top personal fundraiser

2. Most "winnning-est" gym

3. Top fundraising team/gym

Each winning team will receive promotion at their gym and a seminar by a top BJJ athlete. The Grand Prize will be revealed shortly.
