About the Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Initiative
The Ovarian Cancer Foundation New Zealand’s vision is for every woman to have the chance to live the life she wants, free from ovarian cancer.
Unfortunately, the reality is that many Kiwi women living with ovarian cancer face challenges at every step of their diagnosis; they are being left behind and are unable to access equitable healthcare compared to other more common cancers.
The Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Initiative is a global initiative aimed at improving outcomes for people facing this disease both in New Zealand and around the world. The LGSOC Initiative:
- Provides resources to help people with LGSOC recognise what good care looks like and to empower them to take part in their medical decision making.
- Hosts dedicated LGSOC support groups to help people affected by LGSOC find connection and share their experiences.
- Facilitates fundraising and donations for leading LGSOC researchers across five countries to help advance LGSOC knowledge to improve and find new treatments to treat LGSOC more effectively. Finding a cure for LGSOC remains at the heart of our work today.
