Since 2019, we have moved our bodies and raised over $180,000 in support of the BC Cancer Foundation thanks to friends and family like you.
This year, 3,975 women in B.C. will be diagnosed with breast cancer. While many breast cancers are curable, rare and hard-to-treat subtypes can be deadly, particularly for younger women. Many women remain at high risk for relapse. Treatments can stop working.
However, BC Cancer is on the cusp of more cures and donors can drive vital progress.
Dollars raised for the 2021 Spin-a-thon will support the Karen Gelmon Clinical & Research Excellence Endowment Fund – a fund being established in celebration of Dr. Gelmon’s retirement from clinical practice this year. Dr. Karen Gelmon is a renowned medical oncologist who has spent her career determined to improve outcomes for British Columbians facing breast cancer. This fund will honour Dr. Gelmon’s legacy and inspire our community to join BC Cancer in transforming breast cancer care. This will support training the next generation of breast cancer researchers, elevate world-class research, and innovate patient care.
